Things ingested and the shapes they become.

In my art I have worked through themes including evolution of culture, evolution of the self, and life in the absence or addition of spirituality.

In recent works I render the figures with actual products.  Removing the artifice of trompe l’oeil or even general rendering and replacing it with tangible surfaces I am able to shape an almost spiritual inhabitant of the picture plane.  The figures in the art begin to share the same space as the viewer as well as the experience of the viewer.  They are recognized by the commodities that adorn them.  In the works the figures are shaped by commercial objects in order to distinguish their individuality.  Through mimesis the viewer is nearly as alien as the otherworldly figures that become the consumer in my work.
